Background
The Council’s involvement in the GLR is a significant
cornerstone in its Sustainability Strategy for this area and
its community. The direct cost to the Council is relatively
minor but the benefits are enormous because it has
assisted to develop a culture of co-operation between
the various educational providers that operate within the
Shire’s boundaries. The GLR encourages the broader adult community and focuses on the following fundamental goals:
• To create a management structure that will support the organisation in its pursuit of its vision
• To encourage each member of our community to fully participate in our learning community
• To enhance the existing education and training provision within our communities
• To ensure that the region’s future employment training needs are being met through competent planning.
